Details

This well-preserved, fully functional Samuel Greenough & Sons eight-day ship's chronometer, dating to approximately 1890, features a 5 3/4" diameter dial with an eight-day power indicator and elegantly blued steel hands. The dial proudly bears the British broad arrow mark, signifying its service with the Royal Navy. Inscribed on the face are the details "Samuel Greenough & Sons, Makers to the Admiralty, 45 Newport St, Bolton, Serial # 9150." The chronometer remains bright and in excellent operational order. The mahogany box's top appears to have been replaced and lacks its viewing glass. The front nameplate exhibits a minor chip on the upper left-hand corner. The chronometer weighs 13 lbs.
