Very scarce Ophthalmophantome, or eye phantom a true gem for collectors and medical historians. This antique surgical tool, crafted in heavy-gauge aluminum, was essential for training ophthalmologists in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Operators practiced with animal eyes placed in the sockets before moving on to human patients. Signed by Carl Reiner, Chirurgischen Instrumente, at 9 Mariannengasse, Wien (Vienna), this piece offers a unique glimpse into early medical training.
