A collection of seven vintage sea-chest beckets of various construction.
Among a sailor’s most personal possessions was his sea chest. More than a simple storage box, it doubled as a table, seat, and workbench—and often became a canvas for elaborate decoration during quiet hours at sea.
A finely made pair of beckets further reflected a sailor’s craftsmanship, skillfully fashioned from rope and twine to create both functional and ornamental handles for the chest.
